Debbie is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Supervisor and graduate from Sam Houston State University with a Master of Arts degree in Community Counseling, specializing in marriage and family therapy.  She also holds a Master of Arts degree in Education Administration from Stephen F. Austin University, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Education, from the University of Houston.
 
After teaching middle and high school for 18 years, Debbie began her therapeutic journey at Banyan Counseling Network in Bear Creek. Debbie enjoys working with children, teens, adults, couples, and families.  She has counseling experience with divorce, behavior modification, communication, depression, grief, parenting, and anxiety while working as a student intern at the Jack Staggs Clinic in Huntsville; as a volunteer at Krause Children’s Center in Katy; as a therapist at West Oaks Hospital; and Care Coordinator at Westpark Springs Hospital.
 
Debbie believes that clients have the ability to choose how to resolve their own problems and can make their own decisions with her assistance as a facilitator. She believes that clients are responsible for their own behaviors, thoughts, and feelings. As a counselor, Debbie hopes to facilitate for her clients greater self-awareness through their life experiences that lead to increased confidence, self-esteem, independence, mental health, and the capacity to effectively navigate the complex challenges of life in order to achieve emotional balance.
